It is with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement from professional football. After much consideration and consultation with my family, coaches, and medical team, I have come to the difficult decision to step away from the game that I love.
Football has been more than just a sport to me; it has been my passion, my lifeblood, and my identity for as long as I can remember. Representing the Pittsburgh Steelers and wearing the black and gold has been the greatest honor of my career. I am immensely grateful for the unwavering support of the Steelers organization, my teammates, coaches, and, most importantly, you, the fans.
However, there comes a time when every athlete must listen to their body and prioritize their long-term health and well-being. After sustaining multiple injuries over the past few seasons, I have reached a point where I can no longer perform at the level that I expect of myself and that the team deserves.
This decision was not made lightly. I have poured my heart and soul into this game, sacrificing countless hours of sweat, tears, and determination to reach the pinnacle of success. But as much as I wish I could continue playing, I know that it is time to close this chapter of my life and begin the next one.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Rooney family, Coach Tomlin, and all of my coaches and teammates who have supported me throughout my career. Your guidance, mentorship, and camaraderie have shaped me into the player and the person that I am today.
To the fans, thank you for your unwavering loyalty and passion. Your cheers and support have fueled me through the highs and lows of my career, and I will forever cherish the memories we have shared together.
While my days on the field may be over, my love for the game will never diminish. I am excited to explore new opportunities and embark on the next chapter of my life, knowing that the lessons I have learned on the gridiron will serve me well in whatever path I choose.
Thank you, Pittsburgh, for embracing me as one of your own. It has been an honor and a privilege to represent the black and gold. Here We Go, Steelers!
