David de Gea ‘involved in takeover talks’ after leaving Manchester United

David de Gea left Man United in the summer and the goalkeeper could now become a part-owner of a football club

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has been spotted visiting second-tier Spanish side Eldense amid talks of a potential takeover.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper is still without a club after departing Old Trafford earlier this summer. It is thought the Spaniard turned down advances to move to Saudi Arabia earlier this year.

According to reports from Onda Cero, De Gea is said to have met with Eldense current president, Pascual Pérez, to discuss plans moving forward, with a potential role in a takeover on the table. Eldense, who currently sit 11th in the Segunda División, have enjoyed a rapid rise over the last few years.

Wanting to ensure the club moves into the right hands as Pérez seeks to step aside, a recent statement by the club read: “Pérez assures that, before leaving the presidency, he will do everything possible so that the replacement of the oldest club in the province of Alicante is in good hands for the proper functioning of the entity and the continuity of the ambitious project that he started three years ago. seasons in Tercera RFEF.”
