Inter Miami have become of one of the biggest pulls in Major League Soccer and David Beckham is planning to make another statement signing
Inter Milan owner David Beckham is reportedly plotting his next blockbuster move at the DRV PNK Stadium.
The former Manchester United and England midfielder has played a big part in Miami’s pull to bring Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets to the Major League Soccer. The ex-Barcelona trio moved to Miami last summer and helped the club win their first ever trophy with the Leagues Cup.
Miami’s disappointing finish in the MLS this year means Beckham is already planning to see an improvement under Gerardo Martino in 2024. And according to reports, David de Gea could be the next big name to move to Florida.
According to The Sun, the Spanish goalkeeper has emerged as a shock target following his release from Manchester United in June. The reportstates that a move to Florida ‘holds some appeal’ to De Gea – who at 33 will be hoping to land one final big contract.
However, unlike the majority of leagues in football, MLS rules limit how clubs work in the transfer window. Miami currently have three Designated Player slots occupied, by Messi, Busquets and Leandro Campana, meaning they will have to free-up one.
It remains to be seen whether Beckham and Miami will be successful in convincing De Gea to move to the United States. Their chances could have increased in recent days following reports the goalkeeper had turned down the chance to move to Saudi Arabia.
