There’s not long now until one of the most highly anticipated fixtures in Manchester United Women’s history – the first-ever Manchester women’s derby to be played at Old Trafford, with tickets continuing to sell fast as the big kick-off approaches at 16:30 GMT on Sunday afternoon.
It’s certainly an occasion the players are really looking forward to, as captain Katie Zelem discusses in her match programme column for Sunday’s game.
“Every one of us is super excited,” she writes. “Even if it’s just from watching United v City games on TV growing up, we all know how important derby day is when the two Manchester sides come together.
“And playing the game at Old Trafford makes it extra special. We get brilliant crowds at Leigh Sports Village, but for so many Reds, games here are what they grew up with. Our idols played here and some of our favourite memories from being young are from being here.”
