Confirmed: Jamie Shackleton ruled out for Leeds United v Bristol City, Jaidon Anthony 50/50

Jamie Shackleton won’t play for Daniel Farke’s team against Bristol City, and Leeds will decide on Jaidon Anthony and Sam Byram at the last minute.

Shackleton will not be able to play due to a shoulder injury, and Anthony, a winger who rolled his ankle against Queens Park Rangers, is listed as “50/50” for the encounter.

After picking up an injury midweek, Joe Rodon will be able to play. Sam Byram, who has already played twice this week, will be given a decision.

“Jamie [Shackleton] will sadly miss the game,” he said. “His shoulder too painful. Needs further assessment. Bad news.”

“[Sam]Byram we have to see. Make a late call. Situation is better than last time. More and more in his rhythm.

“Joe [Rodon] is all right, he’s a warrior. No problem at all. Jaidon [Anthony] had a knock and he will be 50-50. Rolled his ankle. Much improved today and could train, but have to see.”

Although performances and outcomes have improved since the previous international break, Leeds are still in the early stages of development.

With five clean sheets in our previous six games, we are winning games and maintaining clean sheets, but the loss to Southampton exposed some obvious flaws and we haven’t been nearly as effective in front of goal as we need to be.

Without a doubt, injuries have occasionally contributed to this, but Farke is also still figuring out his ideal starting lineup and which players he can completely rely on to fill in if that starting XI isn’t available.

This team news will likely see how Farke deals with that a little bit better now, and give an idea on how he plans to move forward for the rest of the season and a win heading into the international break will only be positive for the morale and feeling around the club.

We’re building the foundations to get back into the top flight and then stay there for a while, and Farke is the man for that.
