Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s deal for a 25 percent stake in Manchester United is still yet to be ratified as we reach the second half of the international break.
The Ineos chief, 71, will immediately assume control of football operations and is expected to oversee a significant overhaul of the club’s off-field team once his arrival is finally confirmed. Chief executive Richard Arnold announced his departure last week, with football director John Murtough tipped to soon follow suit.
Manager Erik ten Hag appears to be safe for now, despite lingering speculation over his own future as boss. The Dutchman won the Carabao Cup last year and returned United to the Champions League, but has struggled in his second season at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag’s side have been hit by a worsening injury crisis over the course of the final international break of the year. Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen suffered issues before the break, while Marcus Rashford and Andre Onana have both been injured while on international duty, though the prognosis for both of them is positive.
